chewing stimulates release of saliva which conrains amylase enzyme that braks uo sugars in food. it also lubricates food so when we swallow it moves easily through oesphagus, (part of ailmentary canal). moving through oesaphus stimulates by pertalsis movement relation and contraction of oesaphgus. In stomach hcl provides a acidic pH for optimal activtivty of enzymes. food stay there for 3hrs. a lot more happens in stomach can't remeber. then its released to duodenum where pancreas secretes proteases, amylase and liver secres=tes lipase. to break down food more. then food moves to colon and ileum then exct=reted.
