Reptiles cannot regulate their temperature themselves as mammals can, so they must change their environment. They can raise their temperature by sitting in the hot sun, or cool themselves by sitting in the cooler shade or water.

They regulate temperature by moving to warmer or cooler surrounding depending on the current body temp.
