King Tut's tomb was stuck between two other larger tombs. It was very much hidden because no one thought they would build the tombs so close together(or build over one). So it was never robbed of its treasures.

For one thing it was never plundered by grave robbers, which meant it was intact when discovered by an archeaologist. But the reason the items lasted so long was because of the dry environment of the desert. If something dries out, it's not going to rot. Also, many forms of molds won't survive without water.
