Lets say you are at a grocery store and the cashier is just talking forever with the person in front of you even after that person has already been checked out. How do you inform them without appearing like a fool that it is your turn now?

Talk nicely to both the cashier and the person in front of you, and gently assert it's your turn, with matching eye contact.

Definitely you will not appear like a fool. You'll be the most courteous person in the place.
