To run php what do i have to install ?

do i have to install apache or xampp or wamp ?

first install the wampserver it is the open technology u can type in the google "wampserver u can get number of free wamp server and install them and just go start->program ->wampserver start server and starting the server u can check whether the wampserver is working are not by type the url
http://localhost:80
and put the all .extension i.e php files in www folder are create folder in www folder and run like this
http://localhost:80/foldername/filename.php
there will mysql data base in the wampserver there no need to problem u can get the database by simple type the url
http://localhost/phpmyadmin/

You just need to install Apache and PHP. Actually, you don't even need to install Apache if you have IIS or another Web Server running. A great PHP reference website is php.net and here's some info that might help you out: http://us2.php.net/tut.php

2 things are needed, a web server and php itself.
xampp is a good choice to get both and even mysql so you can jump to database programming when you get up to it.
another good choice and my favorite is easyphp
