In general, what makes one more appealing then another? Particularly, I am doing a comparison of Peter Pan versions and would like to know what people think about them. For example, did you prefer Disney's animated version or Mary Martin's stage version?

It all depends on the play, and the film. They really are two completely different mediums. For example, I love the play version of Beauty & The Beast. It captures a lot of the film, and then expands on it. But, there is also so much on a stage that is impossible, so you have to change things. For example, the "enchanted objects" were now all the size of regular people, because regular people were playing them.

Also, the plays Grease & Cabaret are nothing at all like their later film versions. For one reason or another, the producers at the time decided although the plays worked on stage, they wouldn't work on screen, so they changed it up. I like both versions, but do agree that the play Grease needed the changes to make it work.

When it comes to Peter Pan, that story has been done so many times, it's hard to compare. I like Disney's film. It's a classic, that captures the story well. The same can be said by the famous play. Their just two different ways of telling the story.
