If you like David Sedaris and Augusten Burroughs, give David Rakoff a try. He's similar but more writing about lifestyle and even some politics rather than mainly just his own experiences.
The book I've read by him is Don't Get Too Comfortable, which is a series of essays. I enjoyed it (I also enjoyed Sedaris and Burroughs). I haven't read his other book of essays (Fraud) yet, but I plan to.
Others you might like in a similar vein are Amy Sedaris (David's sister) who has written a book on entertaining, and collaborated on a fiction project (Wigville), and Sarah Vowell, who wrote Assassination Vacation and the Partly Cloudy Patriot.

"The Catcher in the Rye" is a classic contraversial funny book. It is probably the best book I've ever read (next to A Clockwork Orange).
It is about a boy, Holden Caufield, that gets expelled from school and goes to New York City. The book is about his time in New york where he goes to clubs, bars, etc getting dunk, and getting in trouble. He also buys himself a hooker (he's only like 16 years old too). But this isnt what is funny; the dialogue is what makes the book. The things he says are so true and funny and most likely things that youve experienced one time or another in your life.
This is truly a great book. Actually, now that i think if it, it was better than A Clockwork Orange. This is a must read for true book junkies.

"Born on a blue day" by Daniel Tammet. The author is an autistic savant and has appeared on tv multiple times, he was on 60 minutes a couple months back. It is a truly inspiring book and a voyage inside his amazing brain and through his life growing up. he has synaesthesia, which means he sees numbers as shapes and colors. the author is truly one of a kind, there are only 50 known autistic savants in the world and he is the only one who has written a book and is able to live on his own. you can compare him to the guy in "rainman" except daniel is much higher functioning than him. this book was also a nyt best seller for a while when it first came out. i highly recommend this book even though it is a short read.

I recommend "The Life of Pi" by Yann Martel.
This is a funny, magical and profound story of Pi, who is cast adrift in a lifeboat with a zebra, a hyena, an orangutan, and a huge Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Captivating!

Try Carl Hiaasen. Especially Lucky Me. Hilarious. You will want to read them all. Mr. Hiaasen's themes always involve the environment in Florida and how tourism has destroyed it. Lucky Me is the funniest book I ever read. Enjoy. Pax - C.
