Orville's last name is Boggs
Philoe's last name is Beddoe
and both of them call Ma, "Ma"
so if she's their biological mother and they have different fathers, or if she adopted them, or if she's the mother of one, and they are such good friends she 'adopted' the other is never explained I'd often wondered that as well
