I despise labels but unfortunately we are binded by the confines of language and must use them. I hear term used such as 'normal', and I look around at people, I conclude there is no normal, there is only human.

It couldn't work that way. There would be a need to differentiate between people who were only attracted to the opposite gender, and those attracted to the same gender etc... If there were no labels, someone would come UP with labels to explain why for example...it isn't that I'm just not interested in another woman...but not interested in ANY other women.
What I'm saying is...even if we're all just sexual beings...we're sexual in different ways. We already ARE sexual beings. We're just not all the SAME sexual beings.

I am definitely with you on this one.
I came out as a lesbian when I was 13, I have always loved women, and I am very involved in the LGBT community - however I have been criticized (and at times ostracized) for not being a 'true' lesbian due to having dating a male-to-female transsexual, and occasionally being attracted to men. Maybe they're right - I am not a 'true' lesbian - but there is always pressure imposed upon me to label myself as either gay or bisexual and as I am predominantly attracted to women, I choose to call myself a lesbian (which of course gets me into trouble - but I feel I am not attracted to men enough to label myself as bisexual). It bothers me that people feel it is necessary to view sexuality as 3 finite categories. We are indeed all sexual beings, and there is a lot of grey area between the 3 (gay/bi/straight) labels.

I would like that too, and maybe some day far in the future, we will be more comfortable about sexuality in the USA and less inclined to slap labels on everyone in order to psychoanalyze them and "understand" them.
For now, I guess we may as well be glad "gay" is a more popular label than "sodomite".

What about the folks who really aren't sexual? Don't leave them out. I hate the labels too and I really hate the whole idea of anything about my sex life being public knowledge. I'm not ashamed of being bisexual or anything, I just feel like my private life should be private.

I completely agree, but unfortunately, the world seems to have an obsession with labeling and categorizing everything into neat little boxes....

I agree we shouldn't be labeled even though we don't recognize this it's kinda like what Hitler did to the Jews even though now they are not being tortured or killed.
