I used to have that problem REALLY bad. Chew gum, and when you catch yourself doing it, stop yourself. Write STOP in big letters on the palm of ur hand so that you will stop. once you stop doing sumthing for 30 days, u break the habit.

I had this same problem. I used to bite my nails--without even realizing it--during class, while on the computer, while watching TV, etc.

What I started doing was putting nail polish on them and this has really helped me. I can go for months before biting them.

To get over the habit, my friend started getting her nails done professionally. She'd either get them painted or have fake nails put on because (a.) in the latter case she couldn't get to her real nails and (b.) in both cases, she realized (even in the habitual nail-biting mindset) that she had made an investment and it would be silly to chew that up (literally).

Good luck! Hope you find something that works.

I have the same problem. The only way I have stopped is by wearing fake nails. I get them cut down as low as I can (so that they don't look fake). THen when I feel confident to take them off and that I won't bite or pick them anymore I take them off. It seems that I always go back to it though after about 1 week. SO I have to wear fake nails. Good luck. I hope that you find a cheaper solution.

I had the same problem once, and still do alittle bit. ;)and trust me, pretty much nothing can stop this habit, the nail polish stuff wares off really fast, and clipping them makes you chew them even deeper.... I just say keep yourself busy with sports, and work... don't watch tv so much and sing/talk a lot... not much else that really works. It's tough, but you can get through it.

Go see a psycologist , they are there for sane people too. You bite your nails because of stress and habit , so its hard for you to stop without help.
