Howard Stern is the reason. He has all these ppl calling in and voting for him just to mess with the voting. That kid should have been gone a very long time ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think there are 2 factors that account for it the most. First of all, he is appealing to teenagers. He's a perfect teen idol just for his looks and shy personality. And I think that teenagers are more inclined to spend the full 2 hours calling in over and over for their favorite than other people, who have things to do! Take me, I'm almost 32 years old, and as much as I'd like to sit there and vote over and over for Melinda, who is my favorite, I just don't have time. I'm in college and I've got to study. It's bad enough that I take the time to watch the show, but I certainly don't have time to sit and vote for 2 more hours.

The 2nd factor is that he's a sweet kid, and I think people feel sorry for him. They really feel for him, for some reason, because he's been so nice and sentimental through the whole thing.

I don't personally think that vote for the worst can have that much influence. If they could, then Antonella Barba would still be in there. And people who just want to make a mockery of the show are not going to sit there redialing for 2 hours like the huge fans of these people.

I've never been a Sanjaya fan but the secret lovechild of Paula Abdul and Michael Jackson was better than a couple of the others last night (which was shocking!) which is why he was spared this week. Besides didn't that little crying girl on the show last night show you why he's still on there? Never underestimate the power of little girls in large numbers. Especially the ones who can dial a phone. they all love him.

Thank Howard Stern and all the other jerks that think it's funny to vote for a kid that can't sing..I mean if you don't like the fricken show..DON'T WATCH IT!!!! Seriously I have seen several people on here tonight saying they are gonna vote for Sanjaya just cuz they hate the show..GROW UP, do you think you are doing him any favours?? And why do immature people have to ruin things for the talented singers on that show..and for us viewers that really like it???!?!?!? Just don't turn it on, and get a fricken life would ya? BTW.(person above) .he was not SAVED because he was better last night, he is still there at the fault of a childish man(HS) that has a web site to vote for him...just to see a sweet kid but no talent win. Name 1 singer he was better than...sorry but if anyone thinks there is..they are tone deaf! That is all have a good night everyone. Oh God..not another idiot below me...uggg!!!!

It's also a conspiracy set up by www.voteforthewost.com and Howard Stern to really mess up American Idol by keeping him around. I think it's hilarious and I'll be voting for Sanjay too.

Either Affirmative Action, a Seven Eleven Conspiracy, or the fact that for some reason He has young girls acting like the return of the Beatles.
I thought that girl crying was gonna throw Her Hello Kitty Panties on the stage.

I think the teenagers look at him as a pop idol, and they're the ones voting for him. He's the 'new' Michael Jackson without the voice and molestation charges.

Simple: Vote for the Worst. They're all pretty bad, but he's unquestionably the worst! Not only has he survived another week, but he wasn't even second-last, which is probably the Stern effect.

I think that he is still on American idol because even though he is not a very good singer he is popular and people vote for him(don't ask me why) they just do. u should expect to see him for awhile longer because on tuesday night he did sing pretty good. Sorry, thats the best explanation i got. :)

There is a website named dial idol.com. You can download software for rapid voting. That's how Taylor won last year. I think this is backed by people who want to stop Idol. They figure if a lot of bad people win, people will stop watching it. Check it out!
