I want to get a wireless adapter from Netgear since I already have a home network with other computers and a laptop. I see their are two different usb network drives one says 54mbps and the other says 108mbps. Help me figure it out.

For the most part, this will make no difference. The reason is because your internet is slower than both of these. Most internet providers cap their service at 3mbps. Some of the faster providers go up to 25mbps. Either way, both cards smoke that speed. Also, check what your router is compatible with, as the card you choose is only as fast as the weakest link. The additional speed placed on these cards are for file sharing purposes. If you have another computer on the same network, and you are accessing large files from them frequently, the faster wireless adapter will come in handy.

If your access point is also from netgear and supports 108mbps, get the 108 card. If not, the 54 will be cheaper.

The higher the mbps is the faster it is possible to transfer. So for the most part, 108mbps will have better speeds on your network as long as the router supports it.

One is double the speed, but also more expensive. The 54 mbps will do fine (unless you want to upgrade your network cards in the computers).

The one that ways 108 mbps would be the better one. Im not so sure about its range (which depends on whether it is wireless g or wireless n or wireless b) but at 108 mbps the transfer bandwith would be bigger. This means your internet will "theoretically" be faster
