This probably isn't what you want to hear, but any kind of dog is expensive to care for and if your mother is the one who will foot the bill for a dog's food, vet care, etc., I think you have to respect her wishes. Maybe ask her why she feels the way she does. If it's not the expense, she may feel that she's going to be the one who ends up having to feed, water, and provide care for the dog. Find out what her concerns are and try to address them.

You must ask yourself these questions...Can I take care of a dog the way it needs to be taken care of? Will I make sure I feed her and water her everyday on time? Will I give her a bath at least once a week? Can I make sure she has all her vacinations and sees a vet when nesecary? Do I have the space for a dog to beable to run free (fenced backyard)? Will I have decent time to love and spend time with this animal? If you answered yes to all these questions then you can go to your mom and ask her in a respectful way, "Mom, I know you don't want me to have a puppy, can I please ask you why?" Knowmatter how she answers you, remain respectful and calm. If you think you still should beable to have a puppy after she gives you an answer, than you should ask her if there is anything you can do to earn a puppy in the future. Ask her if you can show her you are responsible with other things, such as cleaning your room everyday, helping around the house, washing her car. Do these things with respect and love. When she sees you responsible in your normal daily life, she is more apt to want to reward you with your puppy. It might not come exactly when you want it to, it may take a few months or so to prove yourself, but in the end you will get what you worked for, as long as there is no reason not to have a puppy. Good luck, and God bless. Oh, and don't lie to your mom about hamsters being abandond and what not, that will only show you are not responsible with choices. Be honest in what ever you choose to do. Even if you don't get your doggy, you will be happier in the long run when you make good choices.

show her that you are responsible by starting with a small pet like a hampster, fish,or a gerbil. don't even ask if you can get it just bring it home and say that someone was gonna abandon it if you didn't find it a home. keep it in your room and keep it extra clean and whenever she looks at you make sure she sees you cleaning it or playing with it. after a while tell her you think you're ready to take on a puppy.
trust me, this may seem like a rebellious thing but we eventually coaxed my parents into 2 dogs and a cat. a little tears dont hurt either. and, my mom hates reptiles but i recently just brought a little lizard home and now she loves it after seeing how cute. sometimes you just dont know until you try tell her ;) even if you can't get a puppy try to talk her into a gettin a kitten or even adopting a cat b/c especially older cats at shelters need homes and they are soooo much easier than dogs because they go right in the litter box and are real easy to care for.
good luck! i love animals!

Well, I am not sure how firm your mother is in forbidding you from keeping a dog as a pet, though.
However, your mother has more say in the house...I am afraid if she says no, then there won't be any way you can keep one..
Nevertheless, you can try other solutions.
Do your friends keep one? Who knows, you can share it with your friends if their mother do allow pets. In this way, the pet will still be yours..-)

Ask her WHY she says 'no' to a puppy right now. She might very well have a good reason.

I say that you find something thats valuable to her and take care of it for a week or so then show her that you can take care of it and not have it damaged in any way.
