At 36 weeks if you aren't already dilating and effacing on your own sex won't do anything.

RE:
Should you have sex at 36 weeks pregnant, if you are not looking to induce your labor?
I know it is safe to have sex while pregnant but is it possible for me to induce my labor if I am 36 weeks and obviously do not want to go into labor yet?

The only way sex will induce labor is if your cervix is "ripe," and often not even then. I was 36 weeks and dilated to a 5 having sex 3X a week and STILL did not go into labor until 39 weeks. I say go for it!

It isn't proven that sex will even induce your labor it's just a fun way to wait to go into labor. Your body will decide when you will go into labor with or without sex. Go for it. You won't have many nights that you feel like doing it once your little one is here.

It's totally safe to have sex as long as you don't have a high risk pregnancy (low lying placenta, or any other complications like that). I had sex up to 40 weeks pregnant and my baby was still 8 days late! It all depends on the baby when it will come, and at this point if you do induce labour, your baby will be just fine! :)

I actually did a lot of walking during my pregnancy and it really does help you naturally induce labor. I also did prenatal yoga. When I was at 36 weeks (during my check up), I was 80% effaced and 3 cm dilated. Two days later, my water broke and my son arrived.

If you already started to dialte it could make something happen. I was dialted to 3 for a month and there at the end we were trying to get it going with sex but it didn't work and I had to be induced. So if you want to have sex go ahead!! It will be a little bit after you have it, till you can have sex again, so enjoy!!

2 friends of mine had a lot of sex around 39 weeks hoping to induce labour, but that didn't help at all. I think you'll be all right, unless your doctor says you should be careful. If you don't have any complications I say go for it !!!

There should be nothing wrong with having sex at 36 weeks of pregnancy. I did with my last one and everything was fine. If you start to feel cramping or start to bleed you than should stop and go into the doctor. Good Luck on the rest of your pregnancy.

Sex will only HELP labor if your body is already ready to go. I had twins, was 40 weeks pregnant on my due date, trying to go into labor, and did ALOT, and nothing... My body wasnt ready, so it didnt help. The part that would help is if your cervix was already ripe, the semen helps soften it (efface) but that is about it...
