Get AVG free http://free.grisoft.com
ONLY get antvirus apps from their official home page, NOT from other links as other sites may be hosting old or infected files.

Don't touch windows defender its rubbish and so is Norton/Mcafee/Trendmicro/Symantec.

There is no-reason to buy and use NoAdware when there are freeware alternatives like:

Spybot Search and Destroy:
http://www.spybot.info
AdAware SE Personal (free)
http://www.lavasoft.de/

Keep out hackers with ZoneAlarm free firewall
http://www.zonelabs.com

Also get the freeware CrapCleaner to clean up temporary junk:
http://www.ccleaner.com

If you are still concerned go to http://forum.ccleaner.com and make a post in their "Spyware Hell" sub forum and they will sort out if you possibly have an infection.

unintentional rename probably.
That's where you click into in slowly and get into the rename instead of opening a shortcut. It happens all the time to people, not usually a hacker causing it just inadvertent on the user's part.
