OK, so I got a Pregnancy blood test yesterday (3/20/07), and was thinking... If I am pregnant, then I would only be a couple of weeks... 2-3 maybe... does anyone know if a blood test can give the correct result if I am only that far along? (I am still awaiting results) I am not sure if I am pregnant, but just wanting to ask these questions so I can kinda get an idea. Thanks in advance!

I did not take a HPT, I did a urine test at my doctor's. Are those the same as the ones you buy at the store? Can those also show a false neg. especially if I am only a couple of weeks?

OK, my last period was 2/25.
Also, I have been pooing A LOT the past several days...and no, it's not nerves, because I am the least bit nervous. But, normally I will go about 1 time a day or once every other day (Doc says that that is perfect), but the past several days I have gone poo about 4-5 times a day!!
This may sound ridiculous, but I have 2 kids... therefore been pregnant twice, and I can't remember any of this! LOL!

Yes, a blood test is very accurate. If you are pregnant, it should show up. I actually found out I was pregnant through regular lab work at the hospital...lol! Big Shock, but anyway, I wasn't very far along...The Home Pregnancy test still wasn't positive. The beta should also give some kind of idea of how far along you are also.

Blood is actually most accurate. You can request a quantitive, and qualitive beta test. One tells you the amount of hcg, and the other tells you how far along you are. However, blood tests can still be taken too early. So if results come back neg, still no cycle, and having pregnancy symptoms, feel free to do a second one maybe a week later. HCG doubles as the days goes by.
Good Luck.

It can give you a negative if you are only that far along. My sister has a 1 year old son and tested negative at the hospital for a blood test, then 2 weeks later, which was 4 weeks after she should have started her period, tested positive on an HPT...

Yes a blood test will pick up on a pregnancy that early on....It measures the hcg in the blood.... In non-pregnant women its <5 and in pregnant women the reading should be over 5..so its a very sensitive test and will pick up on a pregnancy before a urine test can...Good Luck!

yes I had one when I was pregnant with my daughter...my hcg (a hormone that increases in urine when pregnant) was not showing high but I was sure I was pregnant (this was second pregnancy) so the doctor did a blood test, it shows up within either two days or two weeks (been a long time ago) so not sure which it is but anyhow by two weeks you definitely can know from the blood test

Yes, the blood test will be accurate that early in a pregnancy. Mine was done when I was barely 3 weeks pregnant, and came back positive.

I read on a website that a blood test can show if you're pregnant just 5 day after conception. Good luck:)

Yes, as soon as you are pregnant you have a higher level of the HCG hormone in your body. It needs to be a certain level for it to show up in your urine, but it shows up right away in your blood. Good luck to you!!!

Urine test? arent' they supposed to tell you right there?
I am not sure. but I heard that for some women it can take 5 -6 weeks before you see results ...
Be patient... and retest again later.
