Im currently writing an essay on Malcolm X, and i just want to know what other people think of him and explain why. Also, was he a hero to the people of today? I believe he was a hero to the majority of African-American people, but im not sure what his impact was on other coloured people (if any). When considering his previous years of being a hustler and then later making it to a religious leader, i truly beleive he is/was a great role model. Please tell me what you think with an explanation. If your thoughts differ from mine or other peoples i ask you to be respectful in your criticism. Thank you.

Malcolm X is misrepresented in our already misleading history books. This whole violence thing that people connect him to. When and where? Instead of being a typical yes(black) man like we had to be in those days, he was the voice of a disenfranchised group of people.

Here is a difference between him and Martin Luther King. Malcolm X would stand face to face with the very groups that hated us, such as the KKK or FBI. MLK used to conduct all these marches, yet he would surround himself with women and children to decrease his chances of being attacked. Malcolm was committed to never cheating on his wife(Never did) and MLK was a womanizer with women in every city he visited and most if not all the women were white. Remember he was a head of a church. Malcolm X fought for a cause the way a white man would have, which is what made him dangerous (Any means necessary is similar to white mans Manifest Destiny), MLK fought the cause way the white man wanted (Peace and turning the other cheek) which almost never achieves anything.

The reason I made a small comparison to MLK is, MX is always viewed as a bad guy. Everyone has a dark side, at least we knew his since he was not afraid to talk about it so that way you could never hold it against him. MLK and the people around him did there best to hide what he use to do, just ask Jesse Jackson his protege that got his hand caught in the cookie jar.

Malcolm X is an American Hero, though most whites don't know that, because all they know is what our bs history books say about him being a radical militant. If he is a militant, Abraham Lincoln was a Hitler.

I think you chose a fine topic to write and essay on and you'll have a new perspective on MX. I know I did once I studied his works when I became an adult.

A very interesting question. I believe and have seen from personal experience that most African-Americans today prefer the teachings of Malcolm X to those of Martin Luther King. However, in my mind, one must always ask, what was accomplished. Name one single thing that Malcolm X's teachings or speaches or actions did, in specific concrete terms. My guess is that you won't be able to find a single thing. On the other hand, what did Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s teachings and actions accomplish? A great deal. He had a huge influence on the South and helped desegregate the South in very real ways. He made a difference!

People have special approaches of seeing men and women. To a few men and women Malcolm used to be a low existence piece of thieving Black trash, who whored his method and thieved his method right into a later lifetime of fitting a devout con guy, like such a lot of different degenerates who soak up faith. That is the 'rough view'. To different men and women he used to be a person who overcame a difficult opening to his existence to make a truly contribution to Black American History. Malcolm used to be a member of the Black Race in America who've been traumatized by means of historical past, this did negatively final result his early existence. Later he grew to become worried in Religion/Politics. In such an unreal panorama of American Black History an activist like Malcolm is not going to be like Mr Obama, the Harvard graduate at present. Malcolm used to be a made from American History.

I liked Malcom X's speech a lot bc/ it had power and it made people listen. Even though he was politicaly left-winged he acted more like a right-winged person (to me) And also it was bc/ of him that the goverment passed the law (bc/ the didn't want all black people get violent like that) But I also like Martain Luther King Jr.

My personal feeling on this, is that I like Martin Luther King Jr.'s stance much better. I think Malcolm X promoted too much violence. Violence only creates more violence.
