Yes, Harper Collins is an example - an example of one of the 5 or 6 A list publishing companies in the world. If you wanted to set up a small publishing house, you would need a lawyer to help you set up the business and write contracts, a way to recruit authors, editors, proofreaders, artists, a printing company, a distributor, ways of promoting your company, and a lot of other things. It would be very expensive and likely your investment wouldnt pay off for several years. It's very doubtful you'd ever end up competing with Harper Collins. They are giants. Pax - C.

An ability to spell.
An ability to construct complete sentences.
An ability to do independent research.

All three of which you have not demonstrated in your post.

Publishing is not like opening up a lawnmowing service. You don't just wake up one day and decide to do it. Publishing requires a knowledge of the industry, a strong grasp of the English language, sales and marketing acumen, and funding.

I have been running a small press since 2002. I earned a degree in English with special coursework in business and marketing. I interned for a publisher of educational publications. I worked for local newspapers. I attended seminars and networked with people in the industry. I LEARNED the business. I suggest you do the same.
