I was wondering something like this too, but more like where is good towns or areas that have more reasonable rents for a reasonable apartment, nothing fancy just to have the basics that work, ya know.
I think if you got a studio and search for a simple basic place you would find a reasonable rent if you aren't looking for anything fancy.

900-1200 is fair for a modest 2 bedroom apartment outside of the city, on public transportation with room-mates. Seattle is not an cheap place to live.

The cost of living in Seattle is pretty high. If you search for the right spots and are conscience of your spending, it should be about the same as any big city.
