The Government is contradicting when come to smoking policy. They stopped shops from selling smaller packet, which meant "encourage" people to smoke more? They banned smoking at Entertainment outlets, yet alow a small smoking area in a same confine air-con place, what is the different? Tobacco bring in huge revenue for the Government, (1 packet of S$11, about S$8 is duty) the Government can never be firmed on how to do with all the smokers.

It is pretty stupid that all the doctors advise you to stop smoking whenever you visit them. When you ask why, they will tell you that it harms you and your family. Why the ministry of the health do nothing about t as they are suppose to be in charge of the doctors. If they knew that smoking can harm all of us why sell in the first place.
I am a smoker and being asking the same questions for many years but no one ever reply on why they allow to sell.
Sigh!!! I am heavy addict to cigarette and pls help me before I die from cancer or smoke related diseases.

No. The government shouldn't ban smoking entirely AT ALL. Business owners have the right to cater to certain groups of "clientele" and smokers are part of that clientele. Quite frankly, I would imagine that in many "non-smoker" states, that a restaurant purely for smokers would do VERY well....

No. Please leave smokers like me space to have our freedom. After all, I think most people who frequent those places are smokers. When I was working at a pub at Clarke quay late last year, I had customers asking me if smoking is permitted before entering. Everyone was relieved to know they could still smoke inside.

It wouldn't stop people from smoking, it would just drive it underground, increase smuggling, bootlegging, contraband etc. Plus they won't ban it because even with all the smuggling etc that already goes on - they still make millions each year off it in tax, duty etc. How would they make up the shortfall if they lost that income? It just wouldn't work. DRUGS are illegal & people still get hold of them.

Re-read the Constitution (assuming you have read it in the first place), nowhere does it allow the right to smoke. Smoking is bad for you, and those who do not care about their health hurt those who do. Smoking is not a right it is a privilege, and is not guaranteed to you.

I do not smoke, never have. I do think that the smokers should have as many rights as the non smokers. Guess the tobacco companies stopped padding pockets of some politicians.

It is my choice to smoke. I don't want to hurt anyone else with it but I also don't want the government to rule my entire life.
