Okay, so my AOL Instant Messenger keeps reconnecting and I miss messages and it's really annoying. Also, the general internet is slow. Also, Firefox keeps not connecting to the pages because "the server cannot be found" and all this jazz. I'm so frustrated, does anyone know how to fix it before I throw my computer out the window? I've tried doing the whole config/renew thing in DOS and it didn't do anything and I unplugged the wireless internet modem downstairs and plugged it back in and it didn't help.

I know what you mean. Exit AIM and re-try it. If that doesn't work, don't hurl your computer out of the window just yet! You should probably uninstall it and get an updated version (yeah, annoying, but they keep coming up with new ones, so why not?). It'll prevent problems in the future.

But, if it's all just one huge internet problem, forget the above paragraph. Make sure the plugs are in the right places (check. now, check again.... okay... one more time!!).

Now, you can just try again. If it STILL doesn't work, look at the manual to your WiFi. It's thick and boring looking, but you should read it (or atleast the important parts that help figure out why it's not working).

The last thing you should do is call the internet provider. If you complain enough, they'll do their own thing across the seas and somehow fix the problems.

stranger.

(Firefox sucks and disconnects a lot. You should probably just use internet explorer)

if you throw aol out the window and aim, you'r likely to see improvment. aside from aol , too many programs running, too many temp files, the list gos on. with a startup manager you can stop aol and aim from starting when windows does.
