I would imagine that keeping busy only helps keep others from noticing the depression.

I have severe depression, have had it since I was 17. So for 6 years now. I try to take each day as it comes. I have to take anti-depressants twice a day and anxiety tablets once a day. It took me 2 years to find the right kinds of tablets because everyone is different and not all anti-depressants work for all people. I take one day at a time, literally. Some days it seems like I have a perfect life, other days I wish I could just bury myself in a hole and not face my problems. It's a very complex and difficult disease and it's not easy for people who have never experienced it to understand. If you don't have it too bad try to do things that make you happy, keep yourself organised so things don't get too much all of a sudden, eat healthily and exercise often. Try to give your body the best opportunity to stay healthy so your mind can too. Sleep regular hours and have a good routine. Make sure you surround yourself with people who love you, understand what you're going through and support you. Don't waste your time on the others. Good Luck and stay strong x x x

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.

Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

Depression Free Method?

Absolutly, but maybe not for sever cases. Keeping yourself occupied is part of overcoming the sickness though no matter what degree of depression you have. Think happy thoughts =:)

yes u can. to a certain extent. but look at it this way.if u wait to long then depression has u instead of u have-ing control. depression is natural function like eating. when u r hungry. what is not is when u get fat from over eating. be careful. there is a very fine line that u will cross. there is a saying " know thy self " . it could save ur life.

No because you cannot escape your own mind & it's thoughts.

At least I can't. I get way too deep way too often, lol. Clinical depression is a serious thing. Me personally, I just mean extreme sadness, or any emotions and thoughts really. I can't escape any of my thoughts. I wish I could. I can re-focus them most of the time, but not avoid completely ...

Sort of, unless it's a severe case. The problem is that it's always there, waiting for you.... Ignoring the problem can have a very high price, I would recommend seeing a doc.

I think it would help sometimes, I personally think most depression has nothing to do with self pity or woe, but merely life circumstances. So be strong chin up and get busy.....

Here is a slightly different perspective on that idea. Depression can be stiffarmed by doing for others. Depression is in part self-absorption, which can be combatted by serving others. Get involved in a volunteer effort and spend more time thinking of others than thinking of your own woes.
