ok, i think i understand that the reason behind so many african americans using "n!gga" as a form of "cultual identity", but what strikes me as odd, is that of all the foul, derrogitory words used by bigots, they only use that one. why is that?
why don't i see people in the "ghetto" yelling ...* to each other, or ..., or even ... ?

*...- i am above using such vocabulary, so i won't mention the hateful words i've heard.

Quoted from JAY-Z (African-American- rapper/hip-hop)
"I make my stand here once and for all, that i disrespect black people who use the "N" word flagrantly and i abhor non-black people for using that word as a punctuation. To be Hip Hop, means to respect. Hip Hop is a culture started by African Americans and dominanted by them. So, a measure of respect for them and yourself is to not use that word in reference to black people and, above all, to yourselves. Does that mean I disrespect many rappers, black and non-black, for using the "N" word? Sometimes;.) When Tupac said it, it was deep; when Lil Bow Wow said it, it was mad wrong but when J Lo said it, it was actually funny;.)"

'Frankly, black people have earned the right to use their own word amongst themselves just like its okay for Chinese to term each other "chinks" while Malays may call each other "Mudhs". checkout www.wiggaz.com'

"So when is it actually right to use the "N" word, technically, if you ain't black, you ain't supposed to. Also, even if you are black, its your right after the years of oppression of your ancestors and your right due to the omnipresent oppression of white authority - don't throw away the diginity of those before you by using the word lightly. Any self-respecting black person will use it intently socially between friends but not overuse it to show one's ignorance of the history behind this emotionally-charged word."

Personally, I don't think it is ever right to use the "N" word!

It takes a profound amount of ignorance to continue to be a bigot and a bit of mental illness to continue to believe in myths and ignore reality.

yeah i totally agree, that one word holds so much history and turmoil you would think in todays 'new age state' we would respect those who have died because of being identified as this one word, and drop it completley from everyday vocab, like for example a person would be frowned apon (to say the least) for reffering to hitler and using his words lightly in general conversation, what jew would drop into conversation hail hitler?
