How to tell if she is pregnant. 1. is there a male in the cage with her. 2. has she gotten moody. 3. is she making a nest in the bedding. 4. is the bulge like two humps on her hips. If so she is most likely pregnant. If not she may have tumors, or just be getting fat. If she is getting fat spend more time with her and let her explore more to get exercise. A good wheel will give her a lot of exercise. But if she is pregnant remove all other hamsters, do not mess with her, and take out all wheels, and other harmful objects to possible babies.

It is possible that your hamster could just be eatting too many fatty foods. If she has a lot of nuts and seeds (sunflower especially) or bird seed...it will pack on the pounds. You could try just feeding her less, get her out for exercise (buy one of the run around balls), or changing food (there are some, like Extrusion, that are pellet form and complete nutrition). My husband and I have noticed that our hamsters and mice have lost weight while on that type of food and tend to get "pudgy" when they get fattier foods, mostly bird sead and sunflower seeds.
