Because anal sex, a practice more prevalent in the gay male community, oftentimes results in small tears in the rectum that more easily allow the transmission of the virus.
It's just a physiological consequence of that type of sex, that's all. Can easily be remedied by practicing safe sex with condoms.
Hope that helps.

Well if they are a couple and each other is faithful, they will not get aids as long as niether had it at the beginning of the relationship.
Gays are more likely to get it because:
-More likely to have unprotected sex
-More likely "sleep around"
-It started with the gay community, so it is more rampid here. Soon straights will have the same problem as the disease grows in the straight community
-(Heresay) the walls of the anus are thinner and an organ on the other side of the wall is very absorbant (I think it is the prostate) The walls are so thin that they are likely to tear (ouch!)

Castle is correct. It is now Straight females and their children who are now the most likely to contract the HIV/AIDS virus (and the children while in their mother's wombs) It NEVER was a Gay virus. It was a hetero virus at first, it only became public in homosexuals and it once again went back into the heterosexual mainstream where it still flourishes.
Get your facts straight there, Flash...and do soemthing about it. Educate people, get some condoms out in the streets, do something instead of just spouting the wrong facts. Please.

Actually, the AIDS rates among heterosexual couples are now starting to rise, too.
Biologically, the rate among gay men remains high because the rectum is more likely to bleed than the inside of a woman.
AIDS spreads quickly through the bloodstream.
So why are AIDS rates starting to spread among heterosexual couples, too? I would guess that it's because bisexuality is on the rise, which means women are now coming into contact frequently with men who have previously (or currently) been with men.
Either way.......risky behavior of any kind should be avoided. Wait until you are married!

Actually, from what I've heard the reason that gay males are most likely is directly related to anal sex. Both the anus and the male genitalia have a lot of very thin blood vessels in them, and blood contact is the surest way to transmit HIV and AIDS.

40% of new AIDS cases each year are hetero black women. AIDS among gay males is actually decreasing due to aggressive use of safe sex techniques. You are promoting an outdated myth.

Actually it isn't true.
If neither of the couple had it to begin with and they remain faithful to each other they will NEVER get it.
It sounds like You and that other person who reported those so called statistics have been reading Paul Cameron. His work gas been debunked as nothing more than made up statistics.

Other studies have shown that AIDS is spreading most quickly among heterosexual women.
I suppose one can find a study to support any point of view.

I am not an expert but I am pretty sure that it is because gay males are less careful about anal sex. You know? Lesbians do not penitrate gays to and that is how you get it. I am sure that they are only a little more likely to get it than a straight woman. I hope that helps you!
