U know that new song by Nas, "Hip Hop Is Dead"? It is so true, hip-hop is dead. Nas is gettin so much crap from the critics and fellow rappers, but what they don't see is that they are feedin in to the demise. Hip Hop used to mean so much, it was a way to speak out. Now, all it is is cliche after cliche.

bob likes how that person princess said "one should be hopeful.It would be nice for Hip Hop to take rap and r&b with it." hahahhahahahaha you funny, that shows how disrespectful and ignorant you are, the last time bob seen that ignorance was when white people thought they were superior to black people and made them sit in the back of the bus, hard working people fought for change and you jsut spit in their face. Dont say **** about somelthing you know nothing about, everybody has their own opinion and what they like, but you crossed the line its obvious you have no idea what hip hop is and saying something about something you do not FULLY understand is ignorant. First of all the question is do you think hip hop is dead not if you like the music or not and if it was you say I dont like hip hop, now go to your parents and ask them to teach you some manners.

for those who dont know nas was talking about the entire hip hop culture, bob has noticed most of you are ignorant white kids living in middleclass homes and know nothing about hip hop so bob will enlighten you

hip hop= the culture
the culture=djing+mcing+breaking+tagging
hip hop music=djing+mcing
mcing=rapping

bob dont think the entire culture is dead, but its not getting better this generation seems to be more ignorant and more materialistic and easily persuaded then the generations that created hip hop, rap has certainly taken a turn for the worst, mainstream rap is dead and completly overrun with lyrical idiots and pop music. underground is still good, but that shows that we were set back 20 years. when rapping first came about it was all underground, then in its golden age it came to mainstream and it was all basically quality work, right now mainstream is so bad and the quality of the music is the worst bob has ever seen.

Mainstream hip-hop is complete trash. Most underground rap is good and very much alive. Try listening to the likes of MF Doom, Quasimoto, Madlib, The Coup, Atmosphere, Busdriver, and hundreds more that I could list but I don't have the time. So to answer the question, mainstream hip hop has been dead for around a decade, but underground hip hop will always be alive.

GREAT SONG!!!!!

i would say that true hip hop is , and now all that lives on is simple and boring rap that is the same thing over and over again. nas made a great example of what hip hop needs to move towards in this song and it would be living and thriving if it did

Hip hop is NOT dead. Who is NAS to think he has the authority to declare Hip Hop dead?

Nas is right! I can't tell you the last CD I bought because the music is just garbage. It's about the same thing: money,cash, hoes, cars. It is so redundant that it all just tends to blend in when I hear it so it all sounds the same to me.
Now I listen to dancehall, certain r&b, and alternative music. I also listen to older hip hop that came out before it just went downhill.

I agree. Because now maority of these so called Hip Hop stars and Rappers just talk about their cars, jewelery, money, sex, and hoes. And they make all of the members of the black race look bad.
