Part of it comes from your clothes, part of it from the dryer sheet and most of it comes from inside your dryer. You need to vaccum out both vents, the tub one and the door one. Then vaccum out the hose as well and make sure it is clamped tight when you replace it.
If your dryer is anywhere near a heating vent/register/furnice the dryer will also collect all the dust in the air and it will show up as lint. This happens from the back of your dryer which you also need to keep dust free.

Actually, some of it does come from your clothes. If you've ever dried a new pair of dark blue jeans, you'll notice the lint is dk blue. Clothes do start looking threadbare after a long time. Not sure if some of the lint comes from somewhere else or not.

it does come from the clothes hard to believe... take a vacuum cleaner and clean out your dryer vents and everything that lint can get into because it can cause a fire and also it can make your dryer take longer to dry clothes

Gremlins.... I would say that the dryer sheets break down, but we don't use em and still have tons of lint.

its not just clothes but what gets on your clothes dirt, dust potato chips, you get the idea also humidity has a lot to do with how well you dry your clothes, if its damp out side? inside? the lint gets trapped in there if its warm, drys out and there it is! yeah we occasionally pull gremlins out of there too!lol

Believe it or not, it comes mostly from your clothes plus bits of stuff that settle on your clothes that don't get washed out in the wash cycle.
