My last period was Feb 24.I had a exam/doctors visit on Mar 9.My doctor told me that my cervix was ripe, open ,and she belived that I was ovulateing(and yes, I did have unprotected sex w/my fiancee). On Mar 15,I had a blood pregnancy test done.It was negitive. On Mar 19+20, I had a extremly light discharge. It was brown in color .Just a spot or two.Today,I was due for my next period(I have a 26 day cycle).I took a home pregnancy test.Withen seconds there were dark blue lines. This was deffiantly a positive.I am wondering if it's possible to get a fake positive or if I should belive the results.

It is highly unlikely to get a false positive on a home pregnancy test. It is possible to get a false negative. The reason for this is the tests look for the presence or a hormone called HGC that is present in the urine of pregnant women. The test can miss something that is there (false negative) but it can not find something that is not there (false positive). There are other very rare cases where someone has HGC in their urine and it is not because they are preggo. But since you just had a blood pg test done and it was negative, that tells me the HGC just showed up which means (if dark blue lines really does mean what you think it mean) your most likely pregnant. Congrats!

You're very likely pregnant! There are several reasons for false positives but these conditions are rare. There are ovarian cysts, certain kinds of cancers- namely of the uterus and ovarian cancer. If you take certain drugs which contain HCG in them they will produce false-positive results. Then there's ectopic pregnancy and menopause. Ectopic pregnancy-there are definite signs and symptoms, pain in one side of your abdomen (excruciating) and a painful shoulder. Menopause doesn't apply to you.

The bleeding sounds like implantation bleeding.

You took the blood test too soon. Doctors are not infallible. I'm surprised the test was recommended at that point.

With that in mind, however, there are a couple of pregnancy tests that have been recalled 1 in Canada and the other in the U.S-Check the brand name and do an Internet search.

Good luck!

SWEETIE CONGRATS AND BEST WISHES you are pregnant, the blood test on March 15th was way to soon the baby would not have implanted yet to show a positive. No a fake positive is very unlikely but a false neg is, good luck Mommy to be

There is no need to test again, you are pregnant. Congratulations!!!!! Go call your doctor so you can schedule an apt. to confirm.

The blood test was done too soon and was a false negative.

Normally it is harder to get a false pos than it is to get a false neg. False pos are possible though. I would say that you are pregnant. But to make yourself feel better I would test again. And CONGRATS!!!

Take another test. But, it's rare that you get a false positive. And, go back to your OB/GYN. They can tell you for sure.

Congratulations and call your doctor! You are most likely pregnant. False positives don't usually occur unless you're male and have testicular cancer. God bless. Take care of yourself!

Believe the results! The first one was negative probably because you hadn't missed your period yet.
