When the baby can sit by his/herself. Then what us old folks did..lol..lol. was put a thick towel in the bottom of the tub and let them sit on it. Then run the water and just cover the baby to it's tummy. You can stay with the baby and if the baby has toys, they will splash and play but be perfectly safe. I did this will all my children. Course I didn't use an infant tub, I found a tub that inflated...like a pool toy. I used it til they got big enough to sit on their own. I'm mom to 3.

If there was one piece of baby equipment I would advise every one not to waste their money on, it would be an infant tub. Really, the kitchen sink is just as good, is free, takes up no closet space, and is a lot less of a hassle.

I used my infant tub maybe three times, and then stuck it in the back of the closet. Right now, it's packed up with the stuff I'm getting ready to donate to the local pregnancy crisis center.

When we bathed my son, we lined the sink with a towel and held him in a slightly reclined position with one hand, and used a soft washcloth with the other. Or we laid a towel in the bottom of the big tub, put in about an inch of water, and laid him on his back. That worked until he wanted to sit up, and then we just used the big tub every time.

i stopped using one and bathing him in the big bath tub when he was 3 months old....he was too big for the infant tub then, so i had to switch him....but i would use an infant tub for as long as possible because it's so much easier if you use one and lay it on a counter somewhere than using the big tub

It depends on your baby, and if he/she is ready and willing to move onto the big tub. I've heard of kids completely freaking out about the big tub, but my son loves it so far... It took us a while to transition him only because I have bad knees and it was just easier to put him in the baby tub on the counter. Try it once and see how baby handles it.. But remember even in the big tub they're still slippery!!

every child is different you should take in consideration of the child .like can he or she sit up. i think that the baby should be able to sit up before taken out of the infant tub and if your baby is climbing out then you can move on to a child seat and most importune is do you feel conferable with the change if not you answered your own question.

I never have used one. My son is three months old and I take baths in the big tub with him. If you are talking about when you can bathe them alone in a big tub, I would say when they can sit by themselves or even earlier if you have a supportive bath sling. Just make sure to never take your hands or eyes off them (but Im sure you already know that :)

Depends on the baby, I hated the tubs, so maybe around 3 months I sat in the bathtub and held my son, I think he was sitting up by 4 months and I just sat him in my lap until about 6 months and it worked great. (The bath rings didn't work that great.)

For me, we decided when they were reliably able
to sit up on their own.

We purchased one of the bath seats that suctions to the
floor of the tub, but BE CAREFUL- they can easily slide out
and under the chair into the water. It's merely a tool to use
when tryin to get baby clean. NEVER leave a child unattended-
not even for 30 seconds!

i only used mine for a month or so with my daughter.she is now 6 months and loves to lay in the regular tub and play. she would splash way to much to be in the baby tub. i dont have a bath chair for her yet and i dont think i will get one for her because she loves laying there and splashing all she wants. she also rolls over and trys to crawl in the tub. just watch your baby and see what it likes. all babys are different.

when you both feel comfortable going to the big tub!! it was scary at first, so i got one of those bath seats that latch onto the side of the tub. we only used that for a month or so though, now, at 9 months, she LOVES crawling around in the bath
