I do not understand why people have to have purebreds!
If you dont get a purebred and go to the aspca, you are savinga life!

I agree 1,000,000 times over. Breeders would happily take PUREbreds!!! Not that i don't like purebreds or anything, it's just... I AGREE!

I too like pound animals but I also have a purebred because I always wanted a specific dog. So, don't knock the purebreds...to each their own. But adopting is by far the greatest thing to do!

ummm not to burst your bubble but aspca has purebreds too.
not all unwanted dogs are mutts . but if someone wants to spend money on a puppy then thats what they should do . although with petfinder.com i think my next dog will be from there.
why do people have babys when there are so many in the world who need homes? the answer is in what makes you happy . neither is better in my opinion, except stop unwanted births.... spay an nueter if you dont have planned births

I have had both mixed breeds and purebreads ,mainly large dogs.I had more behavior,health and unpredicable temperment problems hands down with my purebreads.Rule of thumb if the puppy has big paws they are mixed with a large dog,and will be big.
Mostly breeders and people who show dogs or work with them want a purebred.
These days all dogs that are up for adoption are tested for they're temperment before a family gets them.I love my big lab boxer,and who knows mix he's the funniest dog I've had, and a great cuddler too.

mutts are best i say screw purebreds but if you can get like a free purebred i would take it but i always get dogs form the pound....i got a old enligsh sheep dog there cause he was getting beat up by other dogs so i took him and i took a cat that they were about to put to sleep :)))) so i always go to pounds and humains society before i pay 1000000$ dollors for a crumby purebred

With a purebred, that is bred for certain characteristics, size, temperament, working ability etc.. You know what you are getting and what to expect when you buy the dog. You know how big they will be, you know how long they take to mature, you know exactly what they will look like, what their coat will be like.. You know it all, there are no freaky surprises as the dog gets older.

I saw u tell that guy he shouldn't have a puree bred puppy, but he said it was only about 75% Lab. He very well may have saved his pup from the pound. Many shelter dogs are PURE-BRED!!! People pay thousands of dollars for dogs they don't really want and dump them in the pound, papers and all.
