There doesn't need to be a sticker, if your computer was made before Vista was announced then there won't be one.
Use the upgrade advisor page at Microsoft to see which parts will run:

Here are the minimum requirements for Vista Home:

* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
* 512 MB of system memory
* 20 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
* Support for DirectX 9 graphics and 32 MB of graphics memory
* DVD-ROM drive
* Audio Output
* Internet access (fees may apply)

Additional Requirements

Actual requirements and product functionality may vary based on your system configuration. Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor can help you determine which features and edition of Windows Vista will run on your computer.

BiggJohnn is giving it to you straight! You may need to make several hardware upgrades to your computer to make it Vista compatible. Vista should install right over WinXP. That is why most folks will be waiting a while before installing Vista, you will have the added cost of hardware upgrades to make the computer capable of running Vista. The other issue is that Vista is not 100% foolproof yet. There are still a lot of "bugs" to be worked out of this operating system.
