well only one decent answer out of the bunch but it's more to it than just a mutual fund. ETF's have very wild swings (one of mine today went up well over a $1 a share (my lone mutual fund went up .71). Instead of quick you want to know why you need money now. If you need it with little risk then online banks or CD's are your best bet. If you are willing to take risks then split your money up put some of it into the online bank or cd (or both) and then put the rest into the market. Invest only what you cna afford to lose and good luck.

high reward vehicles are also high risk, if you are shooting for the moon just understand you have a good chance of crashing and burning. The safer the investment the lower the return.
Slow and steady is the best way to do it.

Go with a Money Market Account (MMA), there is a good interest rate and you can usually write checks out of the account at any time.

Put $5000 in a mutual fund - pick a no-load fund that focuses on growth. Leave it there. If there was a way to get rich quick, we'd all be doing it.
