It honestly makes no difference what side you get it on but in my opinion I think u should get it on the opposite side of ur birthmark.

Nose piercing was first thought to originate in the Middle-East almost 4000 years ago. From there it spread into India in the 16th century, where it was quickly adopted into the noble castes.

The kind of jewellery worn could distinguish the wearer by caste and social standing, much like a title, or even an identity card! The piercing was introduced into the west by the ‘Hippy’ culture, that travelled to India in the 60’s and 70’s. It was shortly adopted by the ‘Punks’ and other youth culture of the 80’s and 90’s, until it’s popular use in the new millennium.

Nose piercings were first noticed in the Middle East about 4,000 years ago. Ancient Bedouins wear these rings to show the wealth of their family. The larger the ring in their nose the more wealth they have. This ring would be given by the husband to his bride. In India women wore nose rings in their left nose to make childbirth easier because this was considered to be associated with the female reproductive organs. These all have proved to be traditions.

In the West nose rings first appeared among hippies who traveled to India in the late 1960’s and then was later carried on by the Punk movement in the late 1970’s. This was mainly done to rebel from former conservative values. Even today many do not react well to these types of piercings. This was mostly just a trend but also had some significance associated with it. Today nose piercing may still show some symbol of defiance, but it is mostly just a trend now.

the common and usual trend applies to the left side. if you have a birthmark there, you may either have a small piercing, say, a pinhead to accentuate your nose.

but if you don't find the left side to be an option, the right side should do just fine. but my advise is not to locate it in total symmetry with your left birthmark, it will look awkward i tell you..

and don't forget the disinfectant thing...cheers!
