Fatty acids are long (number of carbons 4 or more) chain carboxylic acids, where the carbon chain is not branched (it can be saturated or unsaturated).

Alcohols are organic compounds with an -OH group.

Aldehydes are organic compounds with a carbonyl in the structure where one of the other groups bonded to the carbonyl carbon is a hydrogen.
