player for player....chelsea undoubtedly...and i'm a diehard man u fan btw.
the beautiful thing about football however is that is a TEAM sport....a "team" is different from a group of individuals in the same jersey....
chelsea has some of the most individually talented footballers in the world but many shortcomings will appear in their game because they don't necessarily mesh together well. they make frequent changes to their squad and so the linkage isn't there.
man u may not have the number of world class players, but our boys know each other's game inside out and the whole team works and functions as a UNIT......this is the critical thing......the flow and coordination of the team.
another example is seen with real madrid....everyone is a star but they lack a certain cohesiveness that causes them to play the rubbish we see them play with increasing frequency. it happens to chelsea over and over.....the players just don't complement each other....many many times what saves them is a moment of individual brilliance from drogba or shevchenko etc...
hope u understand what i'm saying...

I'm a True Blue and I'll try to be as fair as possible. Here goes...
Keeper - Cech is definitely the best in the world, Way ahead of Edwin...
Defenders - At right back, I think Neville outclasses Ferreira.
As for the centrebacks, I believe Chelsea have a better pair as Terry is simply outstanding whereas Carvalho does a great job at supporting the frontmen despite losing out to Ferdinand's and Vidic's defending reliability.
At leftback, Man Utd have a great player in Heinze but Chelsea have 2, Wayne Bridge and Ashley Cole, both top class leftbacks.
Midfielders - On leftwing, both Robben and Giggs are superb but be aware that Giggs is approaching retirement age whereas Robben has yet to reach his peak I believe.
In the centre, I think Paul Scholes is the best player there but the combination of Lampard and Essien or at times Ballack are in a many ways stronger than that of Scholes and Carrick who has yet to prove his worth.
Chelsea uses many midfielders to play on the right but I don't think any of them can match Ronaldo in that position. I hate him by the way but he's one hell of a good player.
Strikers - How can Man Utd outclass Chelsea player for player upfront? Chelsea have the league's top scorer Drogba, one of Europe's most elite striker Sheva who's still finding his form and the ever improving Kalou. Only Rooney has the stature to have his name mentioned among those strikers. Saha has never been consistently good ever since scoring a decent number of goals when first joined from Fulham, Alan Smith has been out of the game for so long and Solskjaer isn't the player he was back then despite still preserving his striker instinct.
So it's clear isn't it? Player for player, Chelsea wins by a big margin but their inconsistent success with teamwork is the main reason the Devils are 6 points ahead.

well...definitely Chelsea. No doubt they were a bit shaky when the season started with new players, injured keepers till half of the year. But no doubt they have bounched back and all are very good teamplayers. Of course MU can lead coz they are seem lucky this season with no injuries and all but Chelsea won the Championship twice in row is not easy. Anyway I'm not only expecting MU and Chelsea be competing for Barclays only but also expect to see them for the FA final too.

Although i am a diehard Man U fan, I'd have to say that Chelsea has stronger individual players but they just can't seem to work as a team, which of course leaves the lead wide open for Man U!!!

Its kind of ridiculous to ask for no bias, as this place is run on bias.
Anyway, even though I am a Man Utd fan, but I well try to be even enough with my selection.
Cech would be the keeper, he is younger then Van Der Sar and I hate to say it, but he may be better as well.
In defense, Chelsea don't really have a quality RB, so Neville gets in there. Rio and Vidic both deserve to be in the defense, but so does Terry. Terry and Vidic are similar players, and Rio would compliment either really well. Therefore, the right CB would be Rio and the left CB would be Terry.
On the left, Heinze or Evra are both better then Cashley Cole. Maybe I am bias agianst the Cole, but maybe I just have so much respect for Heinze that its tough to bet against him.
On the right side of the midfield, I would have Robben when on form. Right now, it would probably be Giggs on the left and Ronaldo on the right, but Robben is younger, but not as talented as Giggs. Nevertheless, Robben is almost ten years younger, and when he plays regular football, he is a great winger.
Ronaldo seems to play better on the left, so, I would put, if both in top form, Robben and Ronaldo on the wings.
In the center of the park, Scholes deserves to be there. To partner him would be Essien, as I think his versatility and tireless performances show the quality of the player. He is one of the few Chelsea player I have respect for. Its a tough choice leaving out Lampard and Makelele, but I think Scholes is a better boss on the midfield and Essien's talent and youth put him ahead of Makelele.
Up front, with no surprises, Rooney should partner with Drogba, as Drogba is the natural scorer Rooney needs and Rooney can allow Drogba to play as an out and out striker.
So, in the end, my team looks like this 4-4-2:
GK: Cech
RB: Neville
LB: Heinze/Evra
CB: Rio
CB: Terry
RW: Robben
LW: Ronaldo
CM: Essien
CM: Scholes
ST: Rooney
ST: Drogba
BN: Van Der Sar
BN: Vidic
BN: Makelele
BN: Lampard
BN: Giggs
I left out Carvalho because all three CBs mentioned are more talented. Ballack has failed to adapt to the English game as of yet, and 2 or 3 good performances doesn't mean he is going to be put in front of a player (Scholes) who has been consistent for almost 10 years.
Sheva is in the same context as Ballack, has failed to perform in the EPL. Sheva might have been a great striker in Milan, but if I had to choose between a 21 year old class striker or a 30 year old past his best, I think I well choose the 21 year old.

I have always been a Man UTD fan, but not biased at all.. Chelsea is a Great Team But i Dont ike THem..Player For Player, I woudl start at goalie, this is WIthout Injuries Starting11
GK. Van da Sar V.S. Cech.....No Compitition, Cech For ME the The Best Goalie in the Would And Hes only 24
RIght Back. G Neville Vs Honestly, Cant Remeber.... But G Neville I think Best Right BAck in EPL
CenterBacks-- Ferdinand, Vidic Vs Carvalho and Terry, Ferdinand and Vidic are better than Carvalho but Terry is Better than all of them.. Best defender candidate.
LeftBack. Hieze vs A. Cole, My Pick Hieze..A. Cole just isnt there yet.
Midfield.. Outside Mids, MAn United's Giggs and C Ronaldo are better than Mikel and Wright Philips and others but Lampard and Ballack are better than Man U's Carrick and Scholes.
Strikers/Forwards. Man u's Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha vs Drogba and Schevchenko....JOke right? Drobga has 29 goals in alll compition and Schevchenko is the all time leading scorer in Europe?
So Overall Chelsea 7 Man u 4.....Love MAN u To Death but CHelsea is overall better..no Bias Here
