My friend is 3 months pregnant and she is so extremely sick and tired all the time. She cannot eat anything without feeling sick. When she does eat she gets very bad indigestion. I have had two kids and I was very sick with the second one, however, I don't remember feeling anything like this. Any ideas? I feel so bad for her.

When I first got pregnant each time(3xs) I got extremely sick and lost about 20 lbs. It is morning sickness but its also called Hyperemesis Gravidarum. And you can be prescribed Promethazine tablets or suppositories to help for the nausea n vomiting.

What is Hyperemesis Gravidarum?
Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) is a very severe form of morning sickness. It is described as extreme vomiting, dehydration, nutritional deficiencies, and electrolyte imbalances combined with a first trimester weight loss of aproximately 10% of your normal body weight.

Most affected women have numerous episodes of vomiting throughout the day with few if any symptom-free periods, especially during the first three months. This can lead to hospitalization. Although usually resolved by 21 weeks, it often lasts the entire pregnancy.

I HOPE YOUR FRIEND FEELS BETTER GOD BLESS.

All I can say, is I feel you! Crackers were a joke, I couldnt even keep them down. It gets better around 4 1/2 months. But unfortunately for me, has come back now at 31 weeks. It is terrible being hugry and not able to eat. I was perscribed morning sickness prenatal vitamins, and they seemed to help. I know people who dont even get nausous the entire 9 months, and others, the lucky ones like us, who are sick the whole time. It is aweful, but unfortunately, sometimes we just have to be strong and ride it out. Things I am able to eat, are baked potatoes with a little butter, and grahm crackers. Try not to let your stomach ever be empty, that makes it 10 times worse. And dont drink too fast, just sip. Good luck to your friend, I hope Ive helped!

I was sick the whole time I was pregnant. I got worse everyday. I felt like I had the stomach flu that doubled each day. I do not exaggerate. I would have to eat 2 Tums and eat as fast as I could within 10 minutes and was still miserable. I tried Dramamine , motion sickness bracelets, crackers, everything. I kept talking to my doctor and he said it was normal. I was miserable. Well, she stopped kicking and came 3 months early (she's fine). So tell your friend to really talk to the doctor and LISTEN CLOSELY TO HER OWN BODY AND BABY!!!! Also to keep eating no matter how bad because she is feeding the baby.

oh girl let me tell you when i was pregnant with my first child i was so sick i thought i was going to die just a wiff of something like food , or other normal things would throw me oof the edge and i would spill my guts everywhere! I remeber i was just in bed the whole time and i would tell my husband to take me to the hospital because i was dying. I know it's called morning sickness but to me it was more like 24/7 sickness! and i had indigestion and heartburn! and everything. I would even try to eat crackers so suppodsedly they will help me with my nausea and booo they didn't. I wish i could tell you what to do or how to help your friend but that is just something that most women go thru but you can tell her i said its so worth everything she is going thru at the end when she meets her baby! And you know what is so weird that i am pregnant right now 7 weeks and i don't feel a thing just mild digestive problems! well tell your friend i sad congrats and good luck! hopefully this helped to not make her feel liek she is the only one! :-)

She should seek medical attention as not only she but the baby that she is carrying are at risk. No point in taking chances. I don't believe this should be left unchecked.
the baby could be suffering from malnutrition and so could she

This is not the time to play doctor have her go and see a real doctor for advise.
She is having a really hard time poor thing and I feel for her
good luck

If I were you I would urge her to seek medical attention ASAP if she has not done so already. i am totally serious bc i once worked with a girl who got pregnant and experienced this exact same symptons as your friend.. she went to the ER and it turned out she was so dehydrated that she had to have an IV put in and she went through bags of fluid. She also had to have a port for the IV implanted into her arm bc she could not eat a n y t h i n g. she had to bring a pole and the IV home with her and was ordered on bed rest. she blood pressure fell and at one point they couldn't locate her baby's heart beat.

it could be that she just has really bad morning sickness, but have her see a doctor anyway. I just went through the same thing a few months ago and unfortunately there was something very wrong with the baby. Please, have her go to the doctor. It could be nothing, which it probably is, but better safe, than sorry.

She has what they call Hyperemesis. It isn't uncommon, but in severe cases women are given long term hydration and anti-nausea medication. Unfortunately, if she can't keep anything down, they give them suppositories.

Typically it will pass as the pregnancy progresses. Sounds like she needs to contact her physician for some advice.

Man every pregnancy question that has come up Amanda has beaten me to the question and usually has the right answer.

Tell you freind to go to the doctor and ask for a drug called Compazine. It is an anti-emetic. (Stops vomiting).

I was like this. Benadryl works great, the doctor told me it was something in the antihistimine, so does sucking on candy. Good luck. If all else fails you can have the doc give her something.
