the secret lies in the cerebellum, the region of the brain that monitors movement.
cerebellum detects self-inflicted touch ahead of time and tells the rest of the brain to ignore the resulting sensation, spoiling the fun of self-tickling. So when you are trying to tickle yourself your brain knows ahead of time and tells the rest of you LOOK OUT!! :) :)

You get confused between sensations on hands ans stomach or whatever area you are tickling to,and the same time controlling all actions........too much for little brain.

this is because when we are tickled it is an 'unexpected' thing to ourselves... even if we do expect it.. when we try to tickle ourselves then we expect it because our brain fully knows what we are doing... yeah it's weird :)

being tickled is like being attacked so when you try to tickle yourself the brain anticipates it and realizes that there's no "danger".

I think it has to do with you know you are doing it so if you sit on your hand...nah, that wouldn't work either

b/c you can feel it on your hand and also on the area being....tickled....so i guess that just spoils it lol
