well yes it is common especially for the older Mercedes diesels to last 250,000 miles but then again u never kno if u will be the one to have a luxury car that is lucky enough to last that long...lexus mercedes bmw and range rover all have good quality names but that doesnt mean an older junker couldnt last just as long...just make sure to compare the options both cars options and check the condition ...a luxury car is alot more expensive even with alot of miles and u are never guaranteed how long it will last ...good luck in your car search

Well I have been managing car dealers for over 20 years and with out knowing what you want to do with the car its had to suggest. How many miles a year do your drive? Can you afford the cost to maintain a benz or a bmw? Out of all the cars you mention I would go Lexus. Or you could save your money and get a loaded Camery or accord. I would not touch a Eclipse if you gave it to me. They are huge headaches and parts are getting harder and harder to come by. Both BMW and Benz are great cars but way expensive when they break. Bmw breaks more then Benz. I have sold both and I drive neither. Since I do not know your financial situation I can not recommend new but if your financing it anyway your payment might be lower for new car at "0" interest then a used car at say 12-14%. Then you have zero miles, get a color you want and don't inheret anothers headache. What ever you do don't buy a BMW at a toyota dealer or Vice versa. If you want a benz or a bmw buy it from that brand dealer. They are best equipped to fix them. Same goes for any brand used car. I would never buy a used Chevy from a Ford dealer and vice versa. Mileage on todays cars makes little difference if you know the cars history and how it was maintained. Either way before u sign on the dotted line on any car run it through car fax or auto check. They have 30 day unlimited use plans for under 20 bucks and its worth it not to wind up with a nice looking on the outside Katrina flood car. There are litterly hundreds of thousands of those cars of all makes and years turning up all over america. I know Ford alone sent over 50,000 cars to salvage auctions. Some wonderful dealers are selling these to people like you. If its a bmw or benz the flood damage might not show up for a year or two when the electrical system inside the car starts to corode. I hope I helped

What you ought to ask your self is; what is that this going to fee you eventually? You are watching at a $2400 fix for a good automobile with simplest eighty,000 and relativly more moderen mannequin. after it's performed it's going to normally be exceptional and pushed with out issues for a even as until you're discovering extra to be unsuitable. even though you bought it as is, you could get at such a lot $2000 for the automobile. so if you're taking the 2400 and 2000 you've got 4400 to spend on a brand new used automobile. A $4400 automobile isn't the finest on this planet. you're watching at purchasing a older mannequin, ninety eight or older, with better mileage. as that stands, you're watching at issues even faster once more together with your new used automobile, and for that reason going to ought to spend extra money solving that, on account that you are going to in no way purchase a used automobile with no need to repair some thing. So, i might say repair the automobile in your 2400, and be performed with repayments. That is the first-class factor, not more repayments. so, relying on what your per 30 days fee was once, you would nonetheless be saving extra money by means of repairing it. ask your self how a lot have you ever stored due to the fact that the repayments have been completed, does it outweigh what the maintenance might be? simply what i feel must be performed.

i own a repair shop ,and all of this would depend on how the miles was probably put on the car,Lexus and Mercedes are good cars but all of this depends on who and how the miles they have was put on them,i have seen some of both brands of cars ragged out,at 75 thousand miles,so you really have to be careful of what you buy now days, you can get burnt really bad on what looks like a good car but really isn't,so think about all of this before you buy one, because once you buy it, its yours ,there's no taking it back, and you may regret buying one,i know people right now who wish they would have bought something different also,so keep this in mind when buying any kind of a car, good luck hope this helps.

In general a low milage car will go more miles than high mileage. I personally prefer a beamer over an eclipse. If you get it inspected by a pro. They can run a while if you maintain them, don't cut corners if it will inhibit anything.

There are a lot of brand new cars in that price range. Sure they may not be the hippest and baddest car but still brand new. That should make you proud to own.
