Staying well hydrated is always a good choice, but I don't know if that would make your period lighter. I do know that if you work out more, that can make your period lighter. I have a friend who's an avid runner. She's skipped months before because of how much she used to exercise. (This is actually very unhealthy and her doctor advised her to cut back on her regiment).

Other things that can affect your menstrual cycle: poor diet/nutrition, stress, etc.

If you're really concerned, I would ask a health-care professional.

The only thing that could make your period lighter is contraception. If your periods are causing problems then go see your doctor. No food that I know of can make them lighter or heavier

I don't know how old you are but I started on Loestrin Fe 24 at 16yo. I use to have extreamly heavy periods, like one pad an hour. I felt horrible and faint during that special week. Once I started those birth control pills my peroid went to 3 days and so light I only use a painty liner. Love it.
