I have a better idea for you... get a sliding door track lock pin assembly. Install it and set it to leave the door open the "thickness" of your dog.... lock it up that way and let rover run in and out all day long.

They sell them at Home Depot, the door just slides into the side if them to hold them in place, measure the opening first so you can get the right size, they are adjustable but they are limited.

They actually make them for sliding doors....check with your local pet store or even a home center.

you can use a regular one, glue it or screw it to it self... you will , however have a problem cutting the hole, unless you live in a 40+ year old house... tempered glass don't cut well!
