does anyone know why at the end of the movie tombstone when doc holiday is dying why he looks at his feet and says " i'll be damned" "this is funny" i cant seem to find anyone who actually knows??

He says that because he is barefoot. True cowboys were supposed to die with their boots on. The is where the saying "He died with his boots on" comes from. It means he died fighting or not laying down.

This is such a valid question about a great film,in my opinion Val Kilmers best work. I think that it meant that Doc was looking at God not his feet because death had come finally for him, right before that moment doc looked at the certificate that Wyatt made for him so his eyes were focused on that not his feet until he noticed the "light" that he never saw before.

I have no idea, but I think I remember that Doc Holliday had tuberculosis, and dealing with it was difficult for him because little was known about it.

He was probably given a few months to live, and it was ironic that he wasn't going to die of tuberculosis.

Did he or didn't he die with his boots on? There use to be an old cowboy western movie saying: "That true cowboys die with their boots on".
