All those other answers are wrong. There are no ‘people’ in the costumes, they are ‘audio-animatronics’, and Disney owns them and they don’t have to pay them ANYTHING.

I read that the ones in the park in Florida are usually illegal immigrants from places like Cuba and Mexico and the like working for minimum or below-minumum wages. Kind of ruins the magic, but it's the reality.
