Can anyone give me some information on the crescent moon. Not the two sets of crescent moons just the main details?

Earth's shadow cast upon our satelite from our sun's shining upon the earth. As the moon orbits us it goes more into the shadow, then slowly goes out of it each day, for 28 1/4 days-same as the female cycle (coincidence?). Hence, the term, "menstration"; ("moon"stration), get it?

The crescent moon is caused by the moon's own shadow on itself, NOT Earth's shadow.... that would be a lunar eclipse.

The moon goes through its phases due to the relative position of the observer, from the perspective of the sun, the moon is always full. It would be similar to shining a bright light on a basketball in a dark room, then looking at it from different positions.
