how fast are cpus these days?

My pc is 3.0 ghts.How much faster do cpus get?

Faster than the programs that are written for them! Most all programs are still written in 32-bit technology. The CPUs are capable of running at 64-bits. They can process up to twice as much information now. Windows XP Pro 64-bit is the only program that I know of that uses the full processing power of the current CPUs. I don't think Vista even uses 64-bit yet.
