I am renting a room. The contract says I can not have a refrigerator. I am allowed to eat, but I am not allowed to have a refrigerator and store food. The room is in the landlords private home on the bottom level of the home.

The landlord doesn't want me to have a refrigerator because of the electricity and because of termites being attracted to the food. I am allowed to eat, but must dispose of the food shortly after eating.

Just because your landlord has a "no refrigerator" clause in the rental agreement does not automatically make it legal.

Go online to your state's website to find your state's landlord-tenant statutes.

Read the law governing landlords and tenants.

Out of curiosity, why does your landlord not want you to have a refrigerator? Electricity?

At least your landlord believes it's okay for you to eat.

Good luck,
Mike

If that is what the LEASE states and you signed the lease, then you must ABIDE by the terms within it! What's the problem? If you didn't think this would work for you then you should NEVER have signed the lease!

If you are renting a single room in his home, then yes he can if it was spelled out in the lease.
