yup. all three answers are right.
when we cry, we release toxins in our body (endorphines) that are revved up in times of stress, pain or sorrow, what have you. it's a very healthy reaction, and because of that, it manifests through many different emotions. we cry when we're happy, sad, angry, afraid, etc.
why water? i think it has something to do with the toxin release. that's just how they come out. tears can have a very healing ora to them.
crying is one of those human things we just don't know why it is what it is, but it's very healthy and makes you feel much better after you've done it.

Physical pain or sadness stimulates the brain especially frontal lobe that control emotional. Brain will read the message and give a reaction. The reaction is stimulant to motor cortex (part of brain that controlled the movement of the body especially in this case is the lachrymal gland in eyes). Motor cortex will give signal or stimulant to lachrymal gland by nerves. So when the stimulant reach lacrimal gland, lacrimal gland will be contraction and tears or water come out of our eyes

It has something to do with glands in our eyes, when our brain gets a certain message or something, the glands activate and "water" comes out. I'm not sure on that, but the gland part is right.

Crying helps your body get rid of toxins that can result from physical and/or emotional stress.
