We live in South Jersey and built our own pool - twice! It's much more cost effective than paying someone to do it and it is very easy. You can build a deluxe pool with a deep and shallow end, 20X40 for under $4000 or a 14X18 economy deep and shallow ended pool for only $2500. We used Sunland Pools Pool-in-a-Box kit the first time and it was amazingly simple and only took about two weeks to finish, including the concrete decking being poured. If you have someone come dig your hole for free you will have to put some time in doing the rest but iof you and your family have a couple friends willing to help it gets done in no time! The second pool we built after we moved and we just bought the parts from California Pools and put it together ourselves. All you need is someone to dig the hole for you (we have friends in construction who own backhoes) and a bit of time to spend finishing it.

If you're really in the market for someone to come do it for you, try Mystic Pools in Park Ridge, NJ. We had a flood when the dams broke a few years ago and the rush of 4' of water did some damage to the pool and the landscaping. Mystic Pools came all the way down from North Jersey and fixed it and did an amazing job!

Good luck!
