Well from my experience, most men love to get tools of some sort for birthdays and Christmas. Your uncle would probably love to get tools for his birthday. Even if he already has the tools you plan on getting him, tools do wear out and it's always good to have a backup. You never know when he'll get help from someone who doesn't have the tool or he may loose one. So as far as I'm concerned tools make great gifts.
