Does anyone feel as terrible as I feel for John Merrick?

For those of you who don't know, he's the Elephant Man. I saw the movie and reading a novel about him. I wish he were born in our time. He would've had better medical attention.

I had a friend who ran out of the movie crying she found it so difficult to watch.
