when you have a baby girl people automaticlly think of Pink!! o she will look cute in this and it is pink. most newborn girl stuff is pink!! same with a boy but all blue!! everyone believes that is how it is meant to be! but it is not worth it! my lil girl never ever wore pink her first year of life because i would not allow it. she wore purple, yellow, red, white!! boys can wear green, red, yellow it doesnt matter but blue and pink are always the first colors to come to mind

Pink for Girls and Blue for Boys

I think its just because PINK is the stereotypical girl color and BLUE is the stereotypical guy color. Also, its because when babies are just born, you can't tell if they are boys or girls unless you're the one who changes their diapers, so it makes it easier for others. Then other people don't have to go through the embarrassment of saying, "Oh! That is the cutest little boy I've ever seen!" Only to have the parent respond, "Its a girl." :D

It's definitely a social construct.

In the Victorian era, pink was considered more suitable for boys - it was much too disturbing and stimulating for girls.

Girls needed "mellow" colors like soft greens and blues.

Pink is feminine while blue can be more masculine. Actually, I prefer getting more yellows, greens, oranges, and other colors! I have twin girls, and although I like pink, I'm kind of getting sick of it. LOL!
